In 1976, Dr. Jose Abaño was recognized by the Philippine Society of Audiology as the pioneer in Diagnostic Audiology in the Philippines. A year later, Manila Hearing Aid became the country's first complete pediatric hearing assessment facility.

In the early 70's, Dr. Jose F. Abaño, fresh from his duty as an ear, nose and throat doctor in New York, founded Manila Hearing Aid as he searched for solutions to help his hearing-impaired father amidst the lack of state-of-the-art audiological equipment and evaluation facilities in the Philippines at the time.
